Hire a Drone
Pilot in
Denmark

Licensed, insured aerial filming for events, real estate, brand campaigns, tourism, and construction — delivered with cinematic quality and full regulatory compliance across Denmark.

I’m Rolands Varsbergs — a certified drone pilot and videographer based in Copenhagen, operating across Denmark and the Nordics through 5 ALIVE MEDIA. I hold EU Open Category A1/A3 certification with an additional A2 competency certificate, I am registered with Trafikstyrelsen (operator ID: DNK000004512282f), carry full commercial liability insurance, and operate multiple DJI Drones for cinematic aerial production.

Whether you need establishing aerial shots for a corporate event at Bella Center, drone coverage of a real estate development in Aarhus, tourism content across the Danish coastline, or FPV footage inside an exhibition venue — I handle the full process: airspace checks, permit applications, flight planning, filming, and post-production delivery.

I work across Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, and throughout Denmark. For productions requiring additional coverage or simultaneous multi-location filming, I coordinate extended crew through 5 ALIVE MEDIA.

Every drone production is planned with compliance as the baseline — not an afterthought. That means pre-flight dronezoner.dk checks, Trafikstyrelsen permit applications where required, GDPR-compliant data handling, and a risk assessment for every shoot location.

Clean aerial footage, legally flown, professionally delivered — that’s what hiring a certified drone pilot in Denmark should mean.

Why Compliance
Matters Here

Denmark operates under the EU EASA drone framework with additional national requirements enforced by Trafikstyrelsen. The rules are strict — and enforcement has intensified significantly since the September 2025 Copenhagen Airport incident.

Registration

All commercial drone operators must register with Trafikstyrelsen and display a unique operator ID on every drone. My operator ID is DNK000004512282f — current and valid.

Certification

EU Open Category A1/A3 certified with an additional A2 competency certificate — the full Open Category stack. A2 allows closer operations in urban environments and near people, beyond what A1/A3 alone permits. Certificates expire every 3 years under BEK 527 (July 2025).

Insurance

Full commercial liability insurance is required for all commercial drone operations in Denmark. Every shoot I conduct carries valid commercial coverage — confirmed in writing on request.

Airspace

I check dronezoner.dk before every flight. Central Copenhagen requires specific authorisation. Airport buffer zones extended to 8km under BEK 527. No-fly zones cover military areas, royal palaces (150m), embassies, and courts.

Permits

Restricted zone filming requires Trafikstyrelsen permit applications — minimum 30 days advance notice, 6 weeks recommended for harbour and central city locations. I handle all permit applications as part of the production process.

GDPR

Drone footage in Denmark is subject to GDPR and Datatilsynet guidance. I apply data minimisation principles, avoid recording during transit to shoot locations, and blur identifiable individuals where required.

Hiring an unlicensed drone operator in Denmark carries serious risk. Fines exceed DKK 20,000 for serious violations. When you book through me or through 5 ALIVE MEDIA, every legal requirement is handled before the drone leaves the ground.

PORTFOLIO

cannes lions

cannes, france

At Cannes Lions 2025, I led FPV drone production for Culture3 through 5 ALIVE MEDIA. A cinematic fly-through of the villa venue — shot on location in the south of France, combining fast low-altitude FPV movement with the cinematic quality the brief demanded. One take. One location. One chance to get it right.

/ How it works

From Brief
to Delivery

01

Brief & Location Assessment

You share your project details — location, dates, deliverables. I assess the airspace, identify any restricted zones, and confirm what’s achievable within the regulatory framework. For complex locations I’ll tell you upfront if a permit is needed and how long it takes.

02

Permits & Planning

For restricted zones I handle all Trafikstyrelsen permit applications. I prepare a flight plan, shot list, and risk assessment. For venue-based productions I coordinate site access with your venue or event team. Everything is confirmed in writing before the shoot date.

03

Shoot Day

I arrive with full equipment, pre-flight checks completed. A final dronezoner.dk check is run on the day. I work efficiently to your shot list — battery life is limited so planning matters. For events I integrate seamlessly with your programme without disrupting guests or speakers.

04

Editing & Delivery

Aerial footage is colour graded and delivered as 4K files ready for your platform. For productions combining drone with ground-level video and photography through 5 ALIVE MEDIA, everything is matched to a consistent visual style in a single delivery package.

/ FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a permit to fly a drone commercially in Denmark? +

All commercial drone operators in Denmark must register with Trafikstyrelsen and hold EU Open Category certification. Additional permits are required for restricted zones — including most of central Copenhagen, areas near airports, military installations, royal palaces, and embassies. I handle all permitting as part of my production process.

Can you fly a drone in Copenhagen city centre? +

Central Copenhagen is heavily restricted. Most of the city falls within controlled airspace due to proximity to Kastrup Airport — buffer zones extended to 8km under the July 2025 BEK 527 amendment. Urban flying in the city is limited to licensed professional operators with specific authorisation. Iconic locations like Nyhavn and Tivoli require individual permits from Trafikstyrelsen with a minimum 30-day lead time.

What areas of Denmark do you cover? +

I’m based in Copenhagen and work nationwide across Denmark — Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg, and throughout Zealand, Jutland, and Funen. For larger productions requiring simultaneous multi-location coverage, I coordinate extended crew through 5 ALIVE MEDIA.

What drone do you fly and what quality can I expect? +

I operate multiple DJI drone platforms selected based on the specific production requirements — from lightweight options for regulatory flexibility to larger sensor systems for cinematic quality. I hold EU Open Category A1/A3 certification with an additional A2 competency certificate (operator ID: DNK000004512282f). For productions requiring specialist aerial platforms, I coordinate through the 5 ALIVE MEDIA network.

How far in advance do I need to book? +

For open-area commercial shoots with no permit requirement, I can often accommodate bookings within 1–2 weeks. For locations requiring Trafikstyrelsen permits — including most of central Copenhagen — a minimum of 30 days is required, and 6 weeks is strongly recommended. For complex harbour or city centre locations, build in 8 weeks to be safe.

Can you combine drone filming with video and photography? +

Yes — through 5 ALIVE MEDIA I regularly produce combined aerial, ground-level video, and photography packages for events, brand campaigns, and real estate productions. One brief, one team, one delivery — with consistent colour grading across all outputs.

What happens if the weather is bad on shoot day? +

Drone operations have specific weather limitations — wind, rain, and low visibility all affect flight safety and footage quality. I monitor forecasts in the days before every shoot and communicate early if conditions look problematic. For time-sensitive productions we agree a weather contingency date at the booking stage. Safety always takes priority.
